James R. Parks, 97, of Steubenville died Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Canal Winchester. He was born December 10, 1921 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late John and Sarah Agnes McCarroll Parks.

Also preceding him in death are his wife Mary Warnock Parks; one son R. Kenneth Parks; three sisters Mildred Kocher, Theresa Welch, Mary Alice Bocek and one brother John Parks. James was retired from Weirton Steel where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish and the American Legion Post 33 He loved to travel, listen to music, watch NASCAR and displaying model trains.

James proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter Sandra (George) Benos of Canal Winchester, OH; daughter-in-law Sheila Parks of Steubenville; four grandchildren Jennifer McClintock, Jodi Hern, Rae Ann Dollmatsch and G. Randall Benos; seven great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd.

, Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Nau will officiate.

A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 6:45 pm. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
