James “Jim” R. Swartz Standish, Michigan Jim, 73, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Standish on February 15, 1945 to the late Henry & Alice (Koryciak) Swartz. He married the former Pat Chaffee in June 1964, she preceded him in death on November 26, 1996.

He enjoyed hunting, watching- feeding the deer, fishing, polka music and polka dancing and working in his shop fixing and working on his tractor.

He was a member of the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Sunrise Side Antique Tractor Club and the UAW. Surviving besides his wife are Jim & Pat’s children Kimberly & Patrick Kohn and Kelley & Lenny Potocki and Susan’s daughter Shelley & Rob Burgess; grandchildren Kyle & Katie Kohn, Shelby Kohn, Dalton Potocki, Devon Potocki, Kevin Kabuscinski, Hannah Smith, Allison Burgess, Emily (Jared) Burgess; great grandchildren Kinley Kohn, Kayzlee Kohn, Michael Kapuscinski and Lauryn Fath; a sister Jody & Mike Machelski; 2 brothers Richard (Joann) Swartz and William (Diane) Swartz. He was preceded in death a brother Kenneth and Susan’s son Michael Smith.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday June 30, 2018 at 11 am from Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David Parsch presiding with burial in Resurrection of the Lord Cemetery.

Family will be present at the church on Saturday from 9 am until time of Mass to greet friends and family.
