Marlene Emma Ruthig Reimer, 87, dear wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, left for her heavenly home on June 4, 2018. Her kind, caring, compassionate nature was evident throughout her life. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on February 24th, 1931, to William and Emma (Dietzel) Ruthig.

She was married to Walter Reimer on November 7, 1952. She often reminisced about their honeymoon days in Bermuda. In later life she was employed at Greenbriar Health Care in Sterling by her friend, Jean Baker.

Her life was especially enriched by dear friendships. She was one of the founders of the Sunday School at Messiah Lutheran Church in Saginaw, serving as President. She also taught Catechism at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Standish, MI.

She enjoyed quilting with the Ladies Aid, LWML, hoeing beans, caring for horses, and adopting deer and birds in her lovely backyard. She loved her church, family, and community, and did all she could to serve them, including leadership with the Arenac County Arts Council and the Prison Community Board. She is survived by Walter, her dance partner and husband of 65 years; daughters Lisa (Jeff) Moore of Daytona Beach, FL, Lori Wischer of Manchester, KS, and Linda (Steve) Trahan of Pleasant Hill, CA; five grandchildren, Anna and Joshua Moore, and Max, Zeke, and Elizabeth Wischer; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation at Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel, 127 N Forest St., Standish from 4-7 Sunday, June 10, and funeral at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 5622 Johnsfield Road, Standish, lying in state at 10 and service at 11, Monday, June 11. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery in Saginaw.
