Mary Eileen Burns Standish, Michigan Mary Eileen Burns, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Eden Fields Assisted Living. Eileen was born November 30, 1925 to the late Willard and Selma Olive (Corneil) Wyatt in Arenac Township. She was their only child.

Eileen married Gerald Edward Burns September 8, 2007 in Metamora, Michigan. Gerald passed away September 8, 2009. Eileen and her family, her mother and her grandmother were instrumental in putting out the veterans’ flags… Read More » on all the veterans graves in Arenac Township Cemetery since World War II, Eileen retired from honoring the veterans in 2012.

She was very active in the Arenac County Republican Party. Eileen was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Upon graduation from High School Eileen worked in Detroit for an Insurance Agency for 2 years and then returned home to work as a secretary for the Arenac County Road Commission for many years.

She also worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Malcom Dolbee until his retirement. Eileen was a great Arenac County/Arenac Township historian and a person you could go to for anything. She was an active member of Community United Methodist Church.

Eileen is survived by her Step-children; Vickie (Daniel) Bedford, Cathy (Craig) Born, Ronald (Nancy) Burns, Robin (Aaron) Bruski and Michael Burns. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and step-nieces and nephews. Also a very special friend Shirley Metevia.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Community United Methodist Church, Standish, Michigan with Pastor James Payne officiating and burial in Arenac Township Cemetery. Eileen will lie in-state at the church from 11:00 am till time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to the Eden Fields Recreation Department.
