Obituary for James Troy Phifer Funeral Services for James Troy Phifer, 71, of Rusk, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Bro. James Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Holcomb Cemetery.

Mr. Phifer passed away November 23, 2018 at home with family. He was born August 13, 1947 in Alto, Texas to the late Carl H. and Elsie Phifer. He traveled extensively and served his career in the United States Navy.

He was a member of East Side Baptist Church, having been recently baptized. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna Sloan, brothers, Charles Phifer, Carl Wendell Phifer, and sister, Nellie McClure. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Beasley Phifer of Rusk, daughter and son-in-law, Lloyd and Deborah Powell of Rusk, grandson, Larry Austin Sloan of Rusk, granddaughters, Jamie and Randy McKay of Longview, Sara Banks of Rusk, Kristen Powell of Rusk, 7 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
