James Welford Morehead, 96, of Flat Rock Road, China Grove, NC, passed away Sunday, April 15, at Bill Hefner VA Medical Center. He was born June 7, 1921 in Cabarrus County to the late Robert Morehead and the late Laura Bost Morehead. James was educated in the Cabarrus County Schools; having served in the US Army, he was honored for his service in WWII; he later retired from Fieldcrest Cannon.

He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Choir Member. James was a former member of the Masonic Order. Services will be held Tuesday, April 24 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM, with funeral services at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at the VA National Cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura V. Williams.
