OBITUARY Jane Bryant December 12, 1952 – September 28, 2018 Jane Bryant, 65, gave up her 5 year battle with cancer, passing peacefully late afternoon on September 28, 2018, with her sister at her side at the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Milton, Massachusetts. Jane was born on December 12, 1952 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to the late Capt. Carleton F. Bryant, Jr. (USN Ret.
) and Elizabeth (Hampton) Bryant. Jane graduated in 1971 from Scituate High School and received an Associate in Applied Science (Marketing) in 1973 from Westbrook College, Westbrook, Maine. After working in Portland, Maine she attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama.
Following her graduation she moved to New York, NY. Jane loved the theater. While working in Portland, Maine and New York, she was actively involved in regional theater where she danced, sang and assisted with the production of numerous theatrical productions.
She ultimately left the city and returned to Scituate, a place she considered home. While working in the South Shore, Jane honed her photographic skills. She became an accomplished photographer and was a member of the North River Art Society and the South Shore Camera Club where her work was exhibited and awarded many ribbons.
Her work was also exhibited and won awards at the Marshfield State Fair, the Scituate Chamber of Commerce Heritage Days and the Rockland Trust South Shore Images. Friends and family looked forward to the calendars she sent them each year using her photographs. Jane had a keen sense of humor and was known for her memory of times and places long past.
Most of all, she loved her cats – Fred, Fluffy and most recently, Paul. She was the loving sister of Susan E. Bryant of Norman, OK and Carleton F. Bryant, III and his wife Susan of Manchester, VT. She was a dear aunt to Sarah Bryant Caughie and her husband Colin of Liberty Lake, WA; Reid Bryant and his wife Kimberly of Dorset, VT; Rebecca McBee of Queens, NY; and Dr. Sandra McBee McAnney and her husband Thomas of Marmora, NJ.
Jane was also the proud great aunt of 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews. A graveside funeral service will take place at Trinity Park Cemetery on Sunday October 7 at 4PM, where she will be laid to rest beside her late parents. A collation will be held immediately following the service in the Hospitality Room at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate.
Guests may park in the funeral home parking lot, which is adjacent to the cemetery entrance. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Boston’s Forgotten Felines at www.
