OBITUARY Jean Morel December 17, 1927 – December 24, 2018 Morel, Jean- Age 91, of Scituate, formerly of Malden, passed away on December 24, 2018. She was the loving wife of 64 years to Gilbert R. Morel. Daughter to the late Rocco and Pasqualina Belmonte.

Cherished mother to Gilbert Morel, his wife Donna of Pepperell, MA, Robert Morel, his wife Erin of Scituate, MA and Jeanne (Morel) Gould, her husband Jay of Beverly, MA. She will be lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jean came to America as a young girl with her family and settled in the North End of Boston.

As a young woman she later met and married the man of her dreams, sharing an extraordinary sixty-five years together. Jean was an avid gardener, who enjoyed nature in all its beauty. Always in the kitchen, baking and cooking were her true passions.

Family was everything to Jean. Hosting holidays, celebrating birthdays and sharing moments were times of great joy for Jean and for all who were blessed by her warmth and hospitality. Always the most gracious of hosts, Jean opened her home for all occasions honoring family traditions and passing on customs from her native Italy.

As a loving mother and grandmother, Jean never missed a birthday, communion, or graduation. With Alzheimer’s disease finally taking its toll, Jean died peacefully on Christmas Eve, one week after her 91st birthday, and on the occasion of her most loved holiday. Although Jean has passed, her beautiful smile and kindness, and care and concern for others, are her lasting gifts to all who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday December 29, 2018 from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital – Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 5407, Boston, MA 02114.
