Gifted to this world on July 26, 1954, Janet Louise Holt passed away peacefully in her home on July 6, 2018. Born with Down Syndrome, doctors claimed she would never walk, talk or do anything for herself. They also asserted that she would not live to see her 7th birthday, but Janet had other plans.

She lived life on her own terms, to the age of 63, with preparations underway to celebrate her 64th birthday in the coming weeks. Janet loved everyone, and everyone instantly loved her. There was something so enchanting about her that anyone who met her – even for a moment – was left with a deep impression of her in their heart, forever.

She lived an active and fulfilling life, gracing those around her with daily doses of her innocent charm and a purity of heart that made others feel safe, secure, and cherished. She was a highly regarded client of Kingsview for over 20 years and was the second oldest client there. With her beauty and charisma, it came as no surprise when she was proudly crowned Miss Winton.

She was an active and adored member in the communities of Winton and Atwater. One of her favorite roles in life was being a cheer mascot for All-Star Athletics, in Winton, CA, for 13 years, where she used her energy and enthusiasm to motivate and inspire young girls working toward their goals and dreams. She was well traveled; one of her favorite trips was to Hawaii.

She embraced every day with a heap of happiness and a generous zest for life. Janet was a beloved part of a large family and was the 13th out of 16 children born to Elijah and Gladys Holt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Gladys, brothers Jimmy, Tommy and Timmy Holt, and her sister, Peggy Evans.

She is survived by Shirley Sullivan, Lindy (Bo) Holt, Billy Holt, Mary Ellen Jones, Linda Routh, Molly Faye Yeaman, Johnny Holt, Gladys Flores, Jane Goucher, Jerry Holt, Jennifer (Penny) Schoenbaum, and nieces and nephews expanding multiple generations, with far too many to list. Janet was truly extraordinary and leaves behind her a void that can never be filled. She always said, “Hello.

My name is Janet Louise Holt. I’m the pretty one”. And – she was right.
