Obituary for Janice Elaine Stoots Janice (Yuill) Stoots, age 70, of Groveport, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at home after battling cancer since March 2015. She was a long-time resident of Groveport, Ohio. She was born July 1, 1948, in Cleveland to the late John “Scotty” and Helen (Hurshman) Yuill.

She was a 1966 graduate of Madison Memorial High School in Madison, Ohio. She received her undergrad degree in 2003 in Business Administration from Otterbein College. She retired from both AT&T and a few years later from the State of Ohio, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

She served three four-year terms on the Groveport City Council. Jan was extremely proud of her Scottish heritage and made three trips to her father’s homeland. Baseball was another of her favorite past-times as she enjoyed going to Cleveland Indians games.

She also coached her daughter, Amanda’s youth softball team for several years and later got to play together with her on an adult co-ed league. Survived by her husband of 48 years, William “Bill” Stoots; sisters Pat Yuill of Tucson, Arizona, and Nancy Yuill of Powell, OH; daughters Ronda (Paul) Siniff and Amanda “Mandy” (Dan) Scheidegger; granddaughters Delaney, Reagan, and Natalie; several nieces and nephews. Her hobbies included photography, family history, listening to bagpipes, traveling, and walking in the Metro Parks with her best friend, Polly Kenneth.

Her favorite travel destination was Scotland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbus Metro Parks. Calling hours will be at Myers Woodyard Funeral Home in Groveport, Ohio on Friday, November 30 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Her Memorial Service will begin at 7:00pm. A small graveside service will be held at Groveport Cemetery for close friends and family on Saturday, December 1 at 10:00am. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Janice Elaine Stoots please visit our Sympathy Store.
