Janice Marie Sperber, 78, of Forestville, passed away at home on April 19, 2018. She was born Jan. 4, 1940 in Sturgeon Bay to George and Bernice (Kolstad) Mickelson.

On Sept. 12, 1959, she married George Sperber at Bay View Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Nov.

4, 2008. Janice was employed by Younker’s Store in Sturgeon Bay for many years. She was a life-long member of Bay View Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School with her mother and sister for a number of years.

For years, Janice and her husband enjoyed camping, motorcycle trips, archery, and attending country music festivals. For 50 years, she and her husband attended the Viking Bow and Gun Fall Archery Shoot in Valders. After George died, Janice enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sporting events and was included in many of her children’s travels and vacations.

She also liked gardening, canning, baking bread and apple pies. She is survived by 3 children, Laura (Mike) Lewens, Sturgeon Bay; Ken (Denise) Sperber, Algoma; and David (Cheri) Sperber, Forestville; 7 grandchildren, Karen (Matt) Carow, Samuel (Michelle) Gueli, Shawn (Kelly) Gueli, Kevin (Special Friend Raven) Sperber, Joshua (Fiance Sara) Sperber, Kelly Lewens, and McKenzie Sperber; 6 great-grandchildren, Lily, Brantley, Colton, Ayden, Layla, and Zoey; a brother Gerald K. Mickelson and a sister Bonnie McLean; in-laws, Fritz and Jane Sperber and Bev Sperber; nieces and nephews; and her cats Lizzy and Johnny. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s parents, Alfred and Mathilda (LaVine) Sperber, Ruth (Kintopf) Sperber; her husband; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed “Boots” Sperber and Lucille Anderson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday April 24, 2018 at Bay View Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Malek officiating. Burial will be in Forestville Town Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 – 7:30 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. On-line condolences may be offered at www.
