Obituary for Janice Voeltz The Celebration of Life memorial service for Janice Voeltz, of Staples will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, at the Thomastown Covenant Church in rural Staples, with Pastor Nathan Hillman presiding. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Schuller Family Funeral Homes’ Verndale Chapel, and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Janice Ellen Voeltz, 82, of Staples, passed away at Hennepin Healthcare, Minneapolis, on Friday, April 27, 2018.
Janice was born March 31, 1936 to L.T. and C. Edith Geiger in Nobles County, MN. She graduated from Staples High School in 1955 and married Ivan E. Voeltz in June 1955. She was a homemaker for most of the years her children were in school.
Her careers outside the home included cleaning homes, clerk at Rexall Drug, and on staff at the former Mary Randolph home. Janice enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and crafting. She was a caring and dedicated person, serving as a leader in 4-H and at church in Children and Women’s Ministries, and visiting friends at the Care Center.
Her 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Janice lived the last two and half years at Lakewood Pines and made many friends. Janice is survived by husband, Ivan; son, Mark of Minto, ND; daughters, Julie Carlson of Minnetonka and Becky (Bruce) Fuhrman of Staples; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Ruth (Manny) Voeltz of Staples; brother Doug (Diane) Geiger of Eugene, OR; and many other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son Don; sister, Evelyn; and brothers, Lawrence and Howard. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples, MN. Memorials may be directed to Thomastown Covenant Church and Smile Again Ministries.
