Janie Holland Smith, 93, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at her home. She was born in Eden, NC, on September 2, 1925, to the late P.J. and Carrie Holland. She was a military wife who traveled throughout the world.

After her husband’s retirement from the Army, she entered the home health care field where she worked for many years. She was a born-again Christian who practiced her beliefs and passed them on to her family. Left to cherish Janie’s memory are her children, Carolyn Smith Wilder of Fayetteville, John R. Smith and wife Liz of Griffin, GA, Barry W. Smith of Fayetteville, James B. Smith and wife Becky of Cordova, AL; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and an extended family.

A funeral service is planned for 11am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Little River Independent Baptist Church in Spring Lake. The family will welcome friends from 10 to 11am prior to the service. Janie will be buried at Raleigh National Cemetery on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11am.
