OBITUARY Janie Shealy Merrill June 6, 1930 – September 29, 2018 Janie Shealy Merrill LEXINGTON – Janie Shealy Merrill, 88, of Lexington. SC passed away in her sleep early Saturday morning, September 29, 2018. She was born June 6, 1930 in Florence, SC a daughter of the Rev.

B. L. Hill and Essie Gardner Hill. She was part of a family of two brothers, two sisters, six step-brothers and one step-sister. As a young lady she moved to Columbia, SC and attended the Baptist Nursing School to become a Registered Nurse.

In the late 70’s early 80’s she became one of the first Hospice nurses at Baptist Hospital where she worked until she retired to her home on Lake Murray. She was the widow of three loving husbands, Edgar L. Shealy, Jr., Keith Bristow and Kenneth Merrill. She is survived by her sons, Ben Shealy (Karen) of Lexington, Ed Shealy (Patti) of Fairhope, AL and daughter, Essie Shealy of Columbia; grandchildren, Brian Shealy, Michelle Shealy, Nicole Shealy Morales and Erin Shealy; great-granddaughter, Karina Morales and brother, Tommy Hill of North Carolina A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery conducted by Rev.

Brubaker, where she will be laid to rest beside her first husband, Edgar L. Shealy, Jr. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, PO Box 805 White Rock, S C 29177.
