Obituary for Janis Brackett Janis (Ramsay) Brackett, 80, of Hudson, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Fairview Healthcare with her loving family at her side. She was born April 23, 1938 in Laconia, NH, daughter of the late Louis Ramsay and the late Charlotte (Thibodeau) Ramsay Anslow. Janis was the loving wife of Ed Brackett of Hudson, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Janis was a longtime teacher in the Hudson School System, having dedicated 26 years to enlightening the young minds of second graders. She enjoyed painting and had a passion to serve her community. She was a proud member of BAFTA, CHF, Big Sisters, Hudson Junior Women’s and many, many more.
Janis lived for caring for others and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Besides her devoted husband Ed, her loving family includes two sons and one daughter; Mark Brackett and his wife Christine of Elkton, MD, Scott Brackett and his wife Rosie of Hudson, Jill Samuels and her husband Scott of Center Conway, NH, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one sister, Linda Burke of Reading, MA, a brother in law, Gail Marcotte and his wife Rita of California, three sisters in law, Katherine Hankins and her husband Gerald of East Kingston, NH, Pamela Holmes of Epping, NH, Pat Brackett of Hampton, NH, Cousin James Ramsay and numerous Nieces and Nephews and many dear friends. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 22nd from 1pm-4pm in THE DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST.
, in HUDSON. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 10am in the funeral home. All may meet at 9:30am at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held later that day at 1pm in the NH State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, NH. All may meet at the cemetery for 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made in Janis’s loving memory to The Nashua Soup Kitchen, app.
