Obituary for Jean Ann Horlacher Jean Ann Horlacher – March 12 1945-October 23 2018, Woods Cross Utah. Jean was called home by her Heavenly Father Oct 23, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. Jean was born March 12, 1940, 15 minutes before her twin sister Joan in Brooklyn, New York.

Jean was raised in South Royalton, Vermont. She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 19 and served a mission in the Southern California mission. She attended Dixie College where she met her beloved husband and Eternal companion Michael Horlacher.

They were married for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple July 25 1970. They soon settled in the small town of Woods Cross where they raised their two children Nathan (spouse Valerie) and Melissa (spouse Josh) and have lived there for the past 42 years. Jean is famous for saying “oh that’s scary” “Remember who you are and don’t wear out your welcome”.

Jean loved nothing more than being a grandma to her eight grandchildren, MaKayla, Braxton, Isaiah, Sophie, McCade, Paige, Jensen and Joshua Kelly. Grandma Jean was known for making birthdays special with a card and a craft. She loved giving and never forgot a special occasion.

Jean was very active in her church and community, she served as primary President and Relief Society President in her church for many years. She loved children and loved serving others. She especially enjoyed the many years as a scout leader.

Jean was very talented and loved to play the piano and sing. Jean’s paintings and crafts decorate her home. Many people sleep soundly with a quilt made by her hands.

she was dedicated to capturing every memory with a picture. Her children and grandchildren love looking through the vast collection of scrapbooks. Jean touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with.

She had several very good and close friends. You all know she will continue the “Lunch Bunch” in Heaven. Jean is proceeded in death by her parents Julius Jay Ashenberg and Ervilla Ashenberg.

She is survived by her husband Mike, her children and her sisters, Joan and Mary. Viewing to be held Sunday October 28th from 6 to 8 pm at the sixth ward church house (8th W. 1500 So. Woods Cross, Utah).

A short viewing will be held Monday, October 29th 9:00 am to 10:45 am with the service to follow at 11 am until Noon at the same location. Internment will be held at 2:00 pm at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. 1700 W., Bluffdale, Utah.
