Obituary for Jean Beam (Shipman) Gaffney — Betty “Jean” Beam, 66, of 520 W Frederick St Apt C, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Cherokee Medical Center. Born in Gastonia, she was the wife of Ricky David Beam and the daughter of the late Franklin Delano Gardner and Frances Louise Gardner. She formerly worked in textiles and attended New Harvest Church of God.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beam is survived by two sons, Jimmy Holden of Gaffney and Michael Holden and wife, Susie, of Gastonia; one daughter, Betty Dawn Keller and husband, Mitchell, of Blacksburg; one sister, Rosie McBee, of Blacksburg; two sisters-in-law, Gail Beam and Shirley Rutledge, both of Gastonia; a brother-in-law, Bobby Beam, of Gastonia; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 2 nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 2th, 2019, at 3:00 PM in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev.

Robert Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Mitchell Keller, Josh Matthews, Ryan Gosnell, Justin Holden, Jason Stanko, and Henry Whiteside will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the home of Betty Dawn Keller, 239 East Bells Branch Road, Blacksburg. The Book of Memories is available at www. gordonmortuary.com.
