Jean (Greskovic) Wilkins Jean (Greskovic) Wilkins from Lexington, SC passed peacefully into eternal rest, surrounded by her children, at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC, on October 11th, 2018. Born in Dickson City, PA on February 23rd, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Mozeleski) Greskovic and the wife of the late Thomas C. Wilkins for 58 years. Jean was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward Greskovic.
Jean is survived by her 4 children: Thomas J. Wilkins and his wife Dawn of Clayton, NC; Christopher Wilkins of Effort, PA; Timothy Wilkins of Hendersonville, NC; and Linda Wilkins Chesko of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 (soon to be 6) great grandchildren. Jean was a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School and Dickson City High School.
She and her husband spent 20+ years living in Binghamton, NY where Jean was a homemaker, mother, and faithful member of St. James Catholic Church. After moving to Stroudsburg, PA in 1976, Jean sold Avon for over twenty years, and was employed first by Stroud’s Department Store and then by J.C. Penney’s for many years where she worked in the Jewelry Department. During that time, she was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church where she was a lector and Extraordinary Minister of the Blessed Sacrament.
She was also a Lay Carmelite and a Cursillista. Jean was a very special woman who was admired and loved by all who knew her. She was a walking testament to her faith and was always happy to speak about her devotion to the Blessed Mother.
She loved gardening, watching the birds that came to her feeders, and watching the deer graze in the woods behind her home. She was a fierce competitor when it came to Scrabble and she did not like to lose. She also enjoyed watching professional football (favorite team withheld to avoid family war).
After her faith, family was the most important aspect of Jean’s life. Nothing gave her more joy than to prepare a festive celebration and feast for her entire family. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched.
A funeral Mass for family and friends will be celebrated Friday, October 19th at 1:00 PM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, SC. Interment will take place at a later time at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
