Jean’s Obituary Lois “Jean” Hendrickson, 92, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 12:33 a.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the OSF St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 South Pine Street, Arcola, IL with Father Angel Sierra as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2019, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Jean was born on August 8, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Russell and Marvel Thurston Cook. She married Max W. Reeder on November 25, 1948 in Decatur, IL.

He preceded her in death on November 14, 1967. She then married John Edgar Hendrickson on June 15, 1977 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2011.

Survivors include her son: Kevin (Debby) Reeder of Waukesha, WI; grandsons: James (Joan) Reeder of Bremerton, WA and Joseph (Shannon) Reeder of Lincoln, NE; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Aiden, Ian, Meghan, Grace and Evan Reeder; sister: Shirley Henrichsmeyer of Decatur, IL; nieces: Amy (John) Stock and Pamela (Mike) Walker; nephews: Alan Henrichsmeyer and Steve (Norma) Mutch; great-nieces: Kayley and Kassey Stock, Christina Hartmeyer; great-nephew: Matthew Walker; and “special” grandson, Brandon (Amy) Heckler of Tuscola, IL and their children Kodi, Brandi, Kenzi, Kayli, Alexis and Blake. Stepson: Gary L. Hendrickson of San Antonio, TX; Step-Son-in Law: Howard Kamm of Atwood, Step-grandchildren: Melissa Kamm and Kimberly Robinson, Step-great-granddaughter: Riley Robinson; and a host of friends. She will be especially missed by her dear friends and neighbors, Doris and Roy Elmore, Nancy Crossman and Terry Patient.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter: Margaret Kamm; great-granddaughter: Gabriella Reeder; and sister-in-law: Juanita Mutch. While Jean considered herself a homemaker, many years ago she worked at ADM, served as postmaster in Elwin, and was office manager for the IUOE Local 515 Operating Engineers in Arcola. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Arcola, IL and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, having served as Diocesan President from 1990-1992.

She was recognized by the DCCW as a “Woman of Distinction” in 2016. She was a member of the Atwood Chamber of Commerce, a past Village of Atwood Trustee, and a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the Atwood Woman’s Club for more than 50 years. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Auxiliary, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
