Jean Kathryn (Ober) Rapach, 72 of Clymer passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She was born April 21, 1946 in Indiana, PA to Clarence and Marian (McKiernan) Ober. She was a graduate of Penns Manor High School, Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and the University of Pittsburgh.

She worked as a nurse for nearly 50 years in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and with the Visiting Nurses Association of Indiana County. Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was the heart and soul of a large extended family and enjoyed celebrating life with that family.

She proudly raised four Eagle Scouts, and inspired many to be more caring and compassionate throughout her life. She was a member of the Penn Run Church of the Brethren, where she served as a deaconess and a member of the Christian Outreach Advisory Board. She loved the Lord and lived her faith.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her large extended family and especially her eight grandchildren. She had a love of quilting and was instrumental in forming the Penn Run Patcher’s Quilting Group, of which she was an active member and shared her knowledge of quilting with many. She enjoyed watching women’s college basketball.

Jean married her high school sweetheart, Charles Michael Rapach, on Oct. 12, 1968. She is survived by her four sons, Michael and wife Jennifer (Buchanan) of Pittsburgh; Matthew and wife Sarah (Fyock) and daughter Abigail and sons David and Nathan of Williamsburg, VA.

, Mitchell and wife Kathleen (Gardner) and daughters Kristen of Louisville, KY, Ellie and Ava of Pittsburgh, and Mark and wife Erica (Bondarev), and daughters Fiona and Mila of Silver Spring, MD. She is also survived by brothers and sisters Janis Ober of Richmond, VA; Deborah (Ober) McCracken and husband Edward of Indiana, PA; Laurel “Billee” (Ober) Correll and husband Samuel of Johnstown, PA; Ronald and wife Karen (Vasbinder) Ober of Commodore, PA; a sister-in-law, Janine Ober of Hollywood, Fla. ; and a special cousin, Mona (Buterbaugh) Irwin, and husband Ronald, of Clymer; numerous nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Rapach, and brother Daniel Ober. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Penn Run Church of the Brethren Christian Outreach Center, Penn Run. Her funeral service will be at 10am Tuesday at the Penn Run Church of the Brethren with the Rev.
