Jean Paul “JP” Hart, 63, of Windham CT, died peacefully surrounded by his friends on Thursday, March 21, 2019. JP was born in Bristol CT, the son of the late George Howard and Pierrette Hart. In 1988 he moved to Willimantic, CT where he was supported by Horizons for 31 years.

While living in Willimantic, JP was a member of the Special Olympics Track and Field team, the local bowling league and attended Easter Seals located in Chaplin Ct for several years. JP enjoyed sharing a good cup of coffee with friends, listening to music, slapstick humor, watching action and comedy movies, wearing old Spice cologne and Cardigan sweaters. No dinner was complete, without a good dose of ketchup.

For many years he loved to spend as much time as possible at Horizons Summer Camp and Weekends in the Country programs. JP’s nose touches could brighten any day, “Toucher le nez”. Though a quiet man, his strength of will and his ability to remain true to himself won our admiration, and his gentle ways gained him many friendships.

He brought peace and a sense of comfort to others; he truly brought out the best in people. JP was predeceased by his brother George Hart and his longtime friend Elaine Michaud. He is survived by his sister Michele Calway and her husband Michael, a niece and a nephew.

JP will be deeply missed by his friends at Horizons especially James, Sue, Bryan and Leslie. We are deeply grateful to Jenn Scott, Nicole L and their team for providing such loving care to JP. We’d also like to thank his Hospice and the Horizons’ nursing teams for their skills and dedication.
