Obituary for Jean Rhoads Jean Rhoads, of Charleston, and Great Kills and formerly of Montvale, NJ passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Addeo Hospice Residence in Staten Island, New York. Born Saturday, October 24, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, as Josephine Cavallo,she was the daughter of the late John Cavallo and the late Amelia Danielle Cavallo. Jean graduated from Lafayette, HS in Brooklyn and went onto her career as a secretary for the Bank of Tokyo, While working she met the love of her life Lester Rhoads, the two were married, and lived a full life together travelling the world and living in Tokyo for periods of time.

. Jean had many talents, she was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church choir n Parkridge, NJ, Jean was a member of the Verismo Opera Company, as well as a member of an Italian Folk dance group that was featured on the Kenny Rogers Show. Jean not only used her vocal talents she was also a professional clown , Josie the Clown brought many a smile to both young and old.

Jean was an animal lover thru and thru, her and Lester cared for many animals throughout their lives, always tending to raccoons, and opossums, squirrels and skunks, there was nothing the two of them wouldn’t care for. Jean volunteered her time with not only Animal rescue groups but with children and the handicapped, She volunteered at the old Willowbrook State School, and was ver active in Montvale’s numerous community groups and organizations. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Lester Rhoads (1996) She was the devoted mother of the late Anthony and Louis, who passed away at early ages.

Cherished twin sister of Marie Clemente. Loving sister of Vera Cerullo, The late Gregory Cavallo and the late John Cavallo. Dear sister in law, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:45 AM on Friday at St. Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Avenue Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will follow in Ascension Cemetery, Monsey, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
