Memorial services for Mrs. Jeri Lynne Walters Wagner, 82, of Jefferson, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 29, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church in Jefferson, Texas with Father David F. K. Puckett officiating, a reception will immediately follow in the church parish hall and afterward, internment at Oakwood Memorial Park in Jefferson, Texas under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. Jeri Lynne was born on November 26, 1935 in Marshall, Texas, the daughter of Mahlon Lawrence Walters, Jr., of Marshall, Texas, and Hazel Irene Miller Walters, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Elementary School in Jefferson, Texas and Benning Elementary School and Jr. High in Washington, D.C. returning to Jefferson her last year in Jr. High.

Jeri Lynne was a Brownie Scout, Girl Scout, member of the Junior 1881 Club, attended Texas Girl’s State in Austin, a member of the Rainbow Girls, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, alto in her church choirs, She attended the University of Texas, Austin, Texas, where she was a Plan II Pre-Law student. While there she held membership in the University Singers, The Curtain Club and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Jeri Lynne was an Executive Secretary for the law office of her father, The Preparedness Investigating Committee of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen.

Lyndon B. Johnson, Chair, Washington, D.C., Dr. John Arch White, Dean of the School of Business at the University of Texas, Mr. L.A. Goodman Sr., General Agent, John Hancock Insurance Company for the State of New Mexico and West Texas, Mr. Don Wood of the Permian Legal Division, El Paso Natural Gas Products Co., Thiokol Chemical Corp. Project Management Dept. , and the Production Department, Marshall, Texas, and for entertainer Louis Prima, Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was President of the North Sea Petroleum Wives Club in Great Yarmouth, England; Co-establisher of a non-denominational children’s Sunday School in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates; Co-editor for the first School Yearbook for the American Community School of Dubai; Managing Editor of the Singapore American Newspaper, the Republic of Singapore; elected to the Board of Governor’s for the Singapore American Schools where she served as the Board’s Representative to the Faculty Senate, and on The Curricula Board; President of the first Up-N-Comer’s Club for the American Contract Bridge League; Secretary of the 1881 Club, Jefferson, Texas; President of the Friends of the Jefferson Carnegie Library, Jefferson; Co-Chair of the 1993 Christmas Candlelight Tour; Treasurer of the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club, Jefferson; Treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women, Christ Episcopal Church, Jefferson; past Associate Conductress for the Eastern Star; past representative for Jefferson on the Marshall Regional Arts Board. Jeri Lynne married Thomas Martin Wagner, III, of Marshall, Texas, in Austin, Texas on May 22, 1963. Jeri Lynne loved dancing, playing bridge, needlepointing, reading, fishing and people.

Jeri Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, Mahlon Walters, Jr. and Hazel Irene Miller Walters; husband, Thomas Martin Wagner, III; and brothers, Mahlon L. Walters, III and Michael C. Walters. Those left to cherish her memory are her Son, Thomas “Martin” Wagner, IV; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers any remembrances may be made to the Jefferson Carnegie Library, Jefferson, Texas.
