Obituary for Jerilene “Jeri” Rice (McCall) Print Jerilene “Jeri” McCall Rice, 87, of Black Mountain, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at home. Mrs. Rice was born April 4, 1931 in Easley, SC to the late Dorris and Ivea Smith McCall. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, and freezing.

She was a telephone operator at Montreat and retired from Owen High School after 27 years working in the cafeteria. Jeri loved her grandchildren and great granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Randall Eugene Rice; sister, Myrtle Gregory; and brother, Dorris McCall, Jr. Jeri is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Leslie Rice of the home; sister, Shelba McCall Peek Guthrie of Black Mountain; daughter-in-law, Brenda Rice; grandchildren, Cindy Rice and Jonathan Rice; great granddaughter, Gabrielea Noelle “Gabby” all of Sacramento, CA; special niece and nephew, Leonard Peek, Jr. (Cathy), Angie Peek Sartor (Bill), and Darrin Peek (Felicia); and many other nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
