Jeris Liles Escalante, Utah Jeris Stanley Liles, 75, passed away very unexpectedly on October 8, 2018 in Escalante. He was born May 30, 1943 in Meadow, Utah to Stanley and Doris Sabina Smith Liles. Jeris spent the first months of his life in Henrieville, Utah with his mom and grandparents while his dad was serving in WWII.

He was finally able to meet his dad for the first time when he was 18 months old. The family moved to Salt Lake City where he attended Madison Elementary and Central Jr. High. He graduated from Granite High School.

Jeris joined the United States Air Force and served our country during the Vietnam War from December 1962 to 1966 as an Air Force Police. After an honorable discharge he met the love of his life, Bonnie Rae Spencer, in Salt Lake City. They dated for eight months before he asked her, “If I marry you, would you help pay my bills, because you’re the reason they have been run up!

” Jeris and Bonnie were married in Elko, Nevada August 15, 1968 . In 1970 Cory Jeris joined the family and then Gerry Stanley followed in 1975. Jeris was an exemplary man.

He was an amazing father, and a true hero to his grandkids. He served in many different areas of the community. He was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion.

He loved visiting the people of Escalante and was a friend to all. He loved working on the farm and serving those around him. His grandkids enjoyed spending every minute possible with him and learning from him.

Jeris is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, of Escalante; sons: Cory (Patricia) Liles, Heber City; Gerry (Marcy) Liles, Cedar City; granddaughters: Ashley Liles, Herriman; Madysen, Abby Alexis, both of Cedar City; Lacee Elenora, Misty Kate, and Shaylee Nola, all of Heber City; and grandson, Kamdyn Jeris Clyde Liles, Cedar City; sister: Sabina Redding, Mobile, AL; brother, James “Jimmy” (Connie) Liles, Weiser, ID; and many other uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; several in-laws, 2 nieces and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Escalante Cemetery.
