Jerry’s Obituary Jerry Payne Jerry Payne, age 73, of Brownwood passed away Friday, February 15, 2019, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Cross Plains First Baptist Church with a reception to follow. Time to be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood. Jerry was born to Jimmielee and Virginia (Neeb) Payne on June 28, 1945, in Cross Plains. He grew up in Cross Plains and graduated from Cross Plains High School.

Jerry worked for the railroad and retired from Union Pacific. After retiring from the railroad, he worked at Brookshires then went to work with Cullen Sliger for the last 7 years. Jerry married Laura Billings in El Paso on May 4, 1985; they were married for 31 years before her passing in 2016.

He loved playing golf and canning. Most of all, Jerry loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Lila Mobley and husband Mike of May; his son, Jimmy Payne and wife Cheyenne of Brownwood; 4 grandchildren, Alisha, Heather, Victoria, and Josh; 2 great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Brennan; brother, James Payne; and sister, Melissa Baughman.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Payne; parents, Jimmielee and Virginia Payne; and one sister, Kathy Purvis. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Breast Cancer Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
