Melvin “Benny”‘s Obituary Melvin Benjamin “Benny” Snow Melvin Benjamin “Benny” Snow of Moriarty, New Mexico passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2019, in Zephyr, Texas, at the age of 84. Benny was born on December 18, 1934, in Dalhart, Texas, to Frank and Zora (Mead) Snow. He and his older brother and three sisters grew up in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico.

He met Verna Arlene Mason in Albuquerque and they were married in 1951. Together they raised three sons, Ronald, Michael, and Thomas and one daughter, Christell. Benny was an accomplished musician and band leader, playing the steel guitar in the Albuquerque area for most of his adult life.

Many knew him by his nickname, “Curly”. He also worked for the Navajo Freight Lines in Albuquerque and Ideal Cement Plant in Tijeras Canyon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; a son, Michael; his parents, Frank and Zora; brother, Darwin Moore; 3 sisters, Marjorie Gibson, Helen Vance, and Doris Neiderman; and son-in-law, Thomas Higgs.

Benny is survived by his 2 sons, Ronald Snow and wife Fern of Zephyr, TX, and Thomas Snow of Moriarty, NM; his daughter, Christell Higgs of Moriarty, NM; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside Services for Benny will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood, TX.
