OBITUARY Jessie Ann Gunter December 21, 1930 – December 6, 2018 Jessie Ann Dotson Gunter Jessie Ann Dotson Gunter was born on December 21, 1930 in Waynesville, North Carolina, the daughter of Ed Dotson and Jessie May Wyatt Dotson. She graduated Waynesville Township High School in 1948 and was salutatorian of her class. Upon graduation, she began work at Wellco Enterprises, a small shoe factory in Hazelwood.

She worked there for 33 years and when she retired, held the position of quality control manager. On December 31st, 1954, she married Jesse Ray Gunter and together they had two children. She was a member of Hyatt Creek Freewill Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Jessie Ann went home to be with her Lord on December 6, 2018 at age 87. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Ray; her daughter Alecia Gunter; her son, Keith Gunter and his wife Connie; two grandchildren, Noel Pearson and Nikki Reid; and two great-grandchildren, Anabelle Pearson and Caroline Pearson; and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister Mary Jane Alexander; her brother Robert “Tib” Dotson, and her brother Lewis “Bud” Dotson.

Jessie Ann loved the Lord and read her Bible every day. She knew the names of birds, flowers and plants and recited poetry and Scripture. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Garrett Funeral Home in Waynesville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorial donations in memory of Jessie Ann can be made to the Hyatt Creek Freewill Baptist Church, care of Judy Pressley, 36 Brody Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
