Obituary for Jewell Gray Print Jewell Dean Roberts Gray, 68, of Hermleigh, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in Andrews surrounded by her family. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a memorial service at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel, 201 Edwards Street, in Merkel, Texas. A meal and reception will follow the services at Starbuck Funeral Home Reception Hall in Merkel.

Jewell was born on August 20, 1950 in Abilene, Texas to Monroe Dale Roberts and Jewell Goldie Garrett. She was raised and attended school in Abilene. She married Donny Leon Gray, Sr. on October 6, 1975 in Snyder, Texas.

She had lived in Merkel, Snyder, and Hermleigh. While in Snyder, she had been a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed watching her son play football while he was growing up, gardening, collecting ringing bells from different states, and her chicken dumplings.

She loved being with her family and being a wonderful wife and mother. She was known to be modest, conservative, and a hard worker. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 8, 2018, her parents, and 4 siblings, Clifford Roberts, Morris Wayne Roberts, Jewell Faye Mangum, and Louise Ison.

Jewell is survived by her 2 daughters, Angela Walker and husband, Ralph, of Andrews and Michelle Gray of Merkel; 2 sons, Donny Gray, Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Loraine, and William Gray and wife, April, of Odessa; 3 sisters, Bertha Reynolds of Abilene, Jeannie Ramirez of Abilene, and Carolyn Roberts of Anson; 1 brother, J.O. Roberts and wife, Bonnie, of Abilene; 4 granddaughters, Lacie Gray, Hannah Gray, Mya Robison and Jolee Walker; 7 grandsons, Garrett Gray and wife, Gabby, Gavin Gray and wife, Victoria, Gage Gray and fiancée, Dusty Rusty Dawson, Austin Gray, Hunter Gray, Dane Robison, and John Walker; and 4 great grandchildren, Abigail, Annabelle, Elliana and Maxwell.
