Jim McCaulla August 09, 1932 – January 08, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Tupelo – James Therrell “Jim” McCaulla, 86, a great Dad, grandfather and friend, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Grenada August 9, 1932, to Thomas Watson and Lucille McCaulla. He loved his family and the church.

His family will miss their daily phone calls with him and the love and guidance he shared with all of them. Jim was a retired Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army, having served at division artillery level brigade group and battalion level. He served overseas in French Morocco.

He also served as President of the Camp Shelby NCO club and the Mississippi National Guard NCO association. He retired with nine years of active service and a total of 42 years and three months of military service. Jim was also an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church serving churches in and around Grenada.

He had also served as a volunteer Chaplain with the Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford since 1995. He was a member of The Orchard Church in Tupelo. Survivors include two children, Mike McCaulla (Pam) of Saltillo and Cathy Azbell (Butch) Willards, Maryland; four grandchildren, Kelly Peters (John) of Mooreville, Kristy Bishop (Jeremy) of Mooreville, Katy McCaulla (Amy) of Nashville, Tennessee, Loren Bradford (Matt) of Pittsville, Maryland; and three great-grandchildren, John McCaulla Peters and Jenna Kate Peters both of Mooreville and Mason James King of Willards, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Watson McCaulla and Lucille McCaulla Chambley; son, James Therrell McCaulla, Jr.; granddaughter, Wendi Kaye Hill; sister, Mozelle McCaulla; and two brothers, Tom and Billy McCaulla. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services honoring his life will be 5 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Dr. Bryan Collier, Rev.

Jay Stanley and Rev. Will Rambo officiating. Memorials may be made to The Orchard Church, P.O. Box 3216, Tupelo, MS 38803 or your favorite charity.
