James “Jim” Russell Charlson, 72, of Cambridge, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at ManorCare Health Services – Davenport. There will be a memorial visitation on Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at Pinnacle Country Club, 11928 Knoxville Road, Milan, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A private inurnment will take place at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Jim was born on March 7, 1946 in Galesburg, IL, to Russell and Elizabeth Louise Ailstock Charlson. He married Ruth Ann (Norin) Ruark in 1992 in Colona, IL. Jim worked as a Foreman at National ByProducts in Lynn Center, IL, retiring in 2004.

He also worked at Schnowski Trucking as a truck driver. James proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. He loved vacationing and fishing in Rice Lake, WI.

He also enjoyed fishing Crappie, Blue Gill, and Trout in Fennimore, WI. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; four step children, Dawn Lough, Shawn Ruark, Wendy (Pedro) Navarro, and Michael (Wendy) Ruark; ten step grandchildren, Dustin, Kyle (Virginia), Parker, Brad, Jessica (Eugene), Trevor, Josh, Amanda, Ashleigh, and Tate; and step great grandchildren, Donovan, Aiden, Audrey, Peyton, Cameron, Kaleb, Ryleigh, and Madysen. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and grandmother.
