OBITUARY Jimmy “Monk” King March 20, 1944 – November 8, 2018 Jimmy “Monk” King, 74, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Bryant officiating.

Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at the funeral home. Jimmy was born in Macon to the late Jacob and Della Smith King and was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Johns King.

He served in the United States Navy and was an aircraft mechanic at Robins Air Force Base. He was also a member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. Jimmy had a passion for the game of softball.

He was a longtime coach of girls’ softball, coaching both of his daughters. He and Verna spent many years playing at Rutland Softball Park. Jimmy led Lady Elite to several championships throughout four years, culminating in undefeated State and SE Regional Championships in 1987.

In later years he coached the Bloomfield Mavericks and several recreational teams in Byron. Jimmy made many lifelong friends on the softball field. His fondest memories were of his years playing and coaching softball.

Survivors include his daughters, Tracey (Brad) Harrelson and Jennifer (BJ) Sumner; and grandchildren, Kayley and Breanna Harrelson and Tyler Sumner. Visit www. maconmp.com to express condolences.
