Jo Anna Abrams Leatherwood, of Onancock, VA, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the age of 74. Born December 8, 1944 in Nassawadox, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Abrams and Emma Ward Abrams. Ever the adventurer, Jo Anna never turned down the opportunity to explore, experience, and learn new things, and she particularly enjoyed her trips to “Who Dat Nation”.

She loved going bowling, spending time with friends, and was quite passionate about Alabama v. Auburn football. There was nothing more important to Jo Anna than her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, brother, aunts, and cousins, and when they were apart, she always made time for nightly calls and texts, especially during football season.

She was especially grateful for Maggie, Jamie, Dave, and Mabel, and often mentioned how much she appreciated all they have done for her and her family. Jo Anna will be remembered for her insatiable zest for life and her unwavering commitment to making those important to her feel loved. Though her presence will be greatly missed, there is comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved parents, Lucky, and many others, all of whom are enjoying her sweet smile, warm embrace, and the stories of her many fascinating trips.

Survivors include her three loving daughters, Deanna Stalcup and husband Dennis of Lockport, NY, Stephanie Gaskin and husband Bobby of Cantonment, FL, and Victoria Leatherwood of Fairhope, AL; brother, Keith Abrams and wife Linda of Gilbert, SC; seven grandchildren, Keith Gardner and wife Erin of Daphne, AL, Nicole Lawrence and husband Shawn of Gulf Shores, AL, Blake Fields and wife Merriam of Madisonville, TN, Danae Morre and husband Isaac of Jacksonville, NC, Bobby Gaskin III and wife Tia of Gulfport, MS, Stephen Gaskin and wife Kenya of Pittsburgh, PA, and Joshua Gaskin and wife Allison of Savannah, GA; fourteen great-grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.
