Joan Marcella Ratelle, age 81, formerly of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Agnesian Hospice of Hope in Fond du Lac after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born in Appleton on July 1, 1936, to the late John and Vanda (Wenzlaff) Pehlke. On January 29, 1966, she was united in marriage to David W. Ratelle.

The couple enjoyed 46 years together until David’s passing in 2012. Joan loved spending time with her friend Marge, coloring, shopping, and time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Lake.

She will be missed by her daughter, Beth Honaker, Fond du Lac; son, Dean Ratelle, Waukesha; 9 grandchildren: Jesse and Tracy Schomisch, Dustin Casper, Korie, Jackie, and Emily Ratelle, and Sarah, Teresa, and Rebecca Honaker; and brother, Armin (Lois) Barth, Appleton. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, son Mark Pehlke, 5 brothers: Clifford, Elmer, Bob, Kenny, and Ronnie, and 2 sisters, Jeanine and Myra.

A private graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Agnesian Hospice of Hope for the compassionate care given to Joan.
