Joan “Joann” Kulwicki (Laskowski) died peacefully among her family on July 16, 2018 in South Bend, IN. She was 76 years old when she lost her battle with cancer. Joan was born on June 27, 1942 in South Bend, IN to her parents, Joseph and Rose Laskowski.

She graduated from New Carlisle High School and married Thomas Kulwicki in 1960. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned hair and tanning salons in South Bend and Mishawaka in the 80’s and 90’s. She was also a Realtor before retiring and dedicating her remaining time to caring for her family.

Joan had a passion for rescuing and caring for unwanted pets. She rescued five Shih Tzu’s throughout her life. Until five months ago, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she was very active and youthful.

Her favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas. Joan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Kulwicki; her daughters, Annette (Mark) Clark of La Porte, IN; Jody (Chuck) Lazar of Long Beach, IN; her grandson Eric (Sarah) Clark of Fishers, IN; and her three great grandchildren Ellie, Lucy, and Emerson Clark. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, July 22 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. (ET) at Cobb Funeral Home 3525 S Michigan St, South Bend, IN.
