“Jesus, Mary and Joseph” was Joan Eleanor Dolan’s favorite thing to say. So on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Joan, 84 years old and born on September 1, 1934 went to meet them.

She is greeted by her husband, Joe, parents, Bond and Rose Cavanaugh, and her sisters, Betty and Eleanor. But don’t fret, this avid Flyers-loving (“shoot the puck! ”) and QVC-aholic lived a very full life, filled with the love of her family, including: her four children, Tom, Rob, Sue, Doug; nine grandchildren, Jackie, Jenny, Ann, Joe, Sean, Robert, Derek, Nate and Justin; and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Joan was the most stubborn, compassionate and good-humored woman. These traits were demonstrated throughout her life, whether she was attempting to save the life of an innocent chicken that she stowed away in her bedroom as a young girl; finally caving and allowing her children to keep the rescued pup (who later became her dear companion), Ruffian; or stashing the Werther’s Original Sugar-Free hard candies in her underwear drawer. Joan will be greatly missed, but certainly not forgotten.

The services will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019. The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Stretch Funeral Home located at 236 East Eagle Road, Havertown, PA, immediately followed by Mass at St. Denis Church at 11:00 a.m. Guests are invited to join the immediate family for burial services following Mass at St. Denis Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,please donate to one of the following organizations, which support causes close to Joan’s heart:“All 4 Paws” 708 Petigru Drive Pawley Island, South Carolina 29585 or “Senior Dog Haven and Hospice” P.O. Box 1441 Wilmington, Delaware 19899.
