Joanne Klever, 89, of Eldridge, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge. Joanne Elizabeth Peters was born February 1, 1930, to John Henry and Bernice (Beil) in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1948.

Joanne married Merrill Klever June 12, 1949, in DeWitt. The couple farmed near DeWitt, Eldridge, and later Davis City, Iowa, until Merrill’s death in September of 1991. Joanne was a lifelong member of the R.L.D.S.

Church. She loved farming, planting flowers and feeding the birds. She had an impressive collection of flower frogs.

Joanne is survived by her children, Dan (Robbie) Klever of Davis City, Dennis (Debra) Klever of Lamoni, Kathy (Paul) Williams of Sibley, Missouri, and Lori (Ken) Suiter of DeWitt; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David Peters of Maquoketa; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Fink, and 2 grandchildren. A service with burial at Elmwood Cemetery will be held in the spring.
