Mr. Joe Herman Berrier, 94, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at his home. He was born January 23, 1925 in Davidson County to David and Claudia Berrier. Mr. Berrier served in the U.S. Army during WWII and graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Engineering.

He was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church, and retired as Assistant City Manager (Winston-Salem. ) In addition to extensive service to the city of Winston-Salem, Mr. Berrier was a lifetime member of Lions Club, and Society of Civil Engineers; and was a board member at Arbor Acres. He also had a passion for woodworking.

Mr. Berrier was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Frances Berrier. Surviving are son, Robert “Bob” Berrier and wife, Melissa of Lubbock, TX; four daughters, Mary Frances Sutphin and husband, Leroy of Easley, SC, Sarah Jo “Joey” Carothers and husband, Frank of Pfafftown, Patricia Grove and husband, Scott of Salem, SC, and Martha Katz and husband, Jerry of Ooltewah, TN; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Heartfelt thanks to his Caregivers: Beth, Sue, Tonja, Carol and Cindy.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Ardmore United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Matthew S. Farabow officiating. Entombment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or the Forsyth Humane Society.
