Services for Joe Powell Rochelle will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Abundant Life Church in Sulphur, with Reverend Robert Green, III officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur. Joe was born August 19, 1923 in Sulphur to the late Marion Lee & Catherine (McBride) Rochelle.

He died Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Ada, at the age of 95 years, 2 months & 23 days. Joe was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. At a very early age in life,… Read More » he worked at the local Farmer’s Co-Op for 17 years, prior to working the majority of his career as a pipefitter.

After many years of welding pipe, Joe retired from Ranger Construction in the early 2000’s. In younger years, Joe was quite the bull rider and chased the rodeo circuit every opportunity he had. He also spent many years racing horses, a hobby he dearly enjoyed.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed trot line fishing, playing poker and spending time with his nieces and nephews, possessing a special bond with each of them. Survivors include his niece, Mary Jernigan of Sulphur; two nephews, Johnny Rochelle of Sulphur and Jess “Cody” Eveington of Bennington; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Rochelle, Johnny “Jay” Rochelle and Jess Rochelle; as well as one niece, Iwanna Sue Larsen; and three nephews, Laird Wayne Rochelle, Johnny Lee Rochelle and Shawn Albert Rochelle.

Serving as pallbearers will be great-nephews Donnie Denny, Kaden Prather, Dustin Payne, T.J. Payne, Michael Rochelle and Mish Rochelle. Honorary bearers will his great nieces & nephews, Melody Fisher, Candi Rochelle, TeAta Rochelle, Taloa Rochelle, Sholi Denny, Katarina Gonzales, Mishayna Gilmore, Kalie Pogue, Makyia Poque, Kensley Rochelle, Misty Green, Micah Green and Shanna Hensley.
