Joe’s Obituary Joseph Edward Rawls, Jr., affectionately known as “Big Joe”, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the age of 56. Born September 20, 1962 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph Edward Rawls, Sr. and Doris (Harvey) Rawls. Joe was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

He also received a college degree in electrical engineering. He worked as a skilled electrician. He was a member of the Eagles Club Aerie#694.

Joe was a die hard Led Zeppelin fan. He also enjoyed the music of Lynard Skynard; going to concerts; watching horse races; taking rides and listening to music; and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon.

He was also a fan of the Raven’s and San Francisco 49’s football teams. Joe was a Godfather to many. He is survived by extended family, neighbors, and several close friends including, D.J. Rudisill, John Vinzant and Tom Witmer, whom he considered his family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Rosehill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. , Hagerstown, MD 21742, to offset funeral costs.
