Joel Lynn Perkins, 71, of Canyon died Friday, May 4, 2018. Memorial services will be 4:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Lynn was born April 12, 1947 in Muleshoe to Troy and Evelyn Moore Perkins. On January 27, 1973, he married Sherrie Royer in Amarillo. Lynn loved building things from the ground up and if something was broken he would patch it back together in his own way.

Researching his family history and genealogy was something he really enjoyed doing. He was a self-taught guitar and ukulele player. He was known for his story telling.

He loved being together with his family especially during their big family vacations. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Robert. Survivors include his wife, Sherrie; son, Justin Perkins of Seattle; daughter, Sarah Kay Brent and husband, Chad of Amarillo; grandson, Harrison Brent; father, Troy Perkins; sister, Troy Ann Dennis of Lubbock; special cousin, Raymond Moore of Austin; nieces and nephews, David Dennis, Bree Ann Denton, Damon Dennis, Angie Cardenas, David Clark and Danny Clark; and many cousins; “extra kids,” Paul Tipps, Laurissa Macdonald, Jeremy Lemoine, Brad Jaggard, Kyle Abernathy, Charla Burgdoff, and Davina Jaggard.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo S.P.C.A. , PO Box 1014, Amarillo, TX 79105.
