Joseph “Joe” P. Mizera, age 85, of Raymond, Passed away on Sunday, November 25, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He as born the son of Thomas Albert and Edna Sophie Nagle Mizera on Sep. 9, 1933 in Beckemeyer, IL.

Joe and his family owned and operated Mizera Market & Food locker in Raymond from 1946-2000. During that time he served his country as a Staff Sargent in the USAF from Apr. 1953 – Nov.

26, 1956. He Married Mary Agnes Danielson at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro on Sep. 12, 1959.

He was a member of the St. Raymond Catholic Church, 50yr Member of the Raymond KofC, was a EMt and the Raymond Havel Ambulance, the President and founding member of the Raymond/Harvel Community Fund, Chairman of the Zoning Board, Raymond Business Association, Founding Member of the Raymond-Harvel Kiwanis Club that was formed in 1958 and served as the clubs first President and was a 50yr Member of the American Legion Triple Star Post 299 in Raymond. Joe had also served as Kiwanis District LT. Governor for two terms and as the Vice President of the P.A.G Grocery buying group.

He enjoyed restoring old cars, swimming, Gardening, and spending time with his family. Besides his wife Mary Agnes, he is survived by sons; Joseph (Melissa) Mizera of Springfield, Timothy (Tracy) Mizera of Raymond, Christopher (Charity) Mizera of Raymond, Gregory (Suzanne) Mizera of Taylorville. He is the proud Grandpa of Catherune, Zachary, Abigail, Hailey, Christian, Ashley, Matthew, Jacob, Cameron, Carson, Hobie, Callie, and Spencer and 5 Great Grand Children.

A brother Hans Mizera (Shirley Matli) Mizera of Litchfield and Many Nieces and Nephews, also survive. Besides his parents, a daughter Victoria and a son Michael, a sister Marion Held, brothers David and Thomas, preceded him in death. Memorials in Joe’s name maybe left to the Raymond Harvel Ambulance, St. Raymond, or the Lincolnwood Drama Club.

Funeral services will be held at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond on Friday November 30, 2018 at 10:00 am . Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday November 29, 2018 also at the church. Burial will be in St Raymond Catholic Cemetery in Raymond Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.
