John A. Cowan, 71, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, departed this life on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Monroeville. He was born January 23, 1948 in Man, WV, son of the late Gilbert E., Sr. and Mattie Bell Williamson Cowan; he was also preceded in death by his wife, Vida Mae Johnson Cowan. John had proudly served in the United States Airforce during the Vietnam War Era and worked as an Electrician for Clairton Municipal Authority.

Survivors include his two daughters, Stacy L. Cowan of Germantown, MD and Michelle Cowan of Monroeville; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Gilbert E. Cowan, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, and James A. Cowan of Clairton, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. A gathering of family and friends will take place on on Monday from 10:30-11:30 at the at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton, PA.
