John Adam Feher, Sr. (Jack) beloved husband of the late Madeline Marsilio Feher passed from this life on June 20, 2018. Born in Bridgeport on August 31, 1942, he was the middle child and only son of the late John Paul & Helen Henderson Feher. He grew up in the house his father built on Mill Plain Rd in Fairfield.
Upon graduation from Roger Ludlowe High School, he promptly enlisted in the US Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam conflict. On August 28, 1965, he married Madeline, the love of his life and one true thing. They were happily married for 35 years, until Madeline’s death on September 29th, 2000.
He was an employee of the Town of Fairfield Department of Public Works for many years. John’s work ethic was unmatched and, while his family was young, he often worked a second and even third job to ensure his family had everything it needed. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the Port 5 Naval Club and gardening.
His vegetable and flower gardens were admired by all. He loved his God, his country, animals (especially Lassie & Eli) motorcycles and the Military channel. Above all else, he loved his grandchildren.
Whether the venue was a baseball diamond, a soccer pitch or a basketball court, he was always there, watching quietly, but proudly, from the sidelines. When report card time came, he was waiting at the door to make sure everyone’s grades were up to snuff. Their well being was his top priority and he would literally do anything for them.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, James Samuel Feher, his sister, Louis Phoenix and his father & mother in law, Samuel & Mary Marsilio. Survivors include his son John Jr, his daughter Kathleen Lojko & her husband, Keith, with whom he resided for the last 16 years, four grandchildren: John III of Stamford and Andrew James, Timothy James (Tim) & Madeline Mary (Maddie) Lojko of Trumbull and a sister, Barbara Minto of Stratford. Additional survivors include three sisters-in-law, June Falzone & her husband Angelo, Rosemarie Carroll & her husband, Michael and Mary Barrett & her husband, Jack, all of Trumbull, one brother in law, Samuel Marsilio & his wife, Mary of Guilford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
John was a decent, kind hearted man. He taught us to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life: a beautiful sunrise, a perfectly ripe tomato in August, Old Glory blowing in the wind and sappy country songs. He lived by the Golden Rule and taught us to do the same.
He was loved and will be missed. Dad, though too short, you lived a good life. Now it’s time for you to go meet Mom in Heaven, where she is waiting for you with open arms to continue the love story you started all those years ago.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd.
