John’s Obituary John Bill Traylor, age 69, passed quietly away at his home in Garland, Texas, on March 10, 2019. John is survived by his wife Joann Traylor, brother David Traylor, stepson Johnathan Ty Tompkins and stepgranddaughter Tia Tompkins, and his cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Bobbie Traylor, stepfather Bob Traylor and younger brother John David Traylor.

John was born in Kingsville, Texas on August 3, 1949 to Bobby and Johnny Williams. After high school, John volunteered for the United States Army. After completion of Infantry Basic, Airborne and Ranger School and Special Forces Training; Sergeant Traylor served in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Division & 75th Rangers.

He was a Green Beret Ranger and very respected and honorable man. After his discharge from the army, John began his long career in the telecommunications industry, working many years for Northern Telecom. These many years “on the road” gave John the opportunity to work in much of the United States, making many good friends along the way.

John was blessed with an excellent memory and quick wit and he enjoyed sharing his experiences with friends and family. John’s generosity and love for his family and friends was boundless, always putting the concerns of others before his own. Funeral services for John will be held at Williams Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be before the service from 12:00-1:00.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to our special friend and caregiver Linda Spence-Reed, and the nurses Winifred Chege, Shenelle Salas and Sandra Young with Precise Hospice for their caring concern and guidance.
