Sharla’s Obituary Sharla Kathyrine Simank Sanderson Rowlett, Texas The celebration of life for Sharla Kathyrine Simank Sanderson will be held at 1 pm Monday March 4, 2019 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Chuck Church and Rev.

John Allen. Grave side services will be Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday March 3, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas.

Sharla was born August 6, 1966 in Dallas, Texas and passed away March 1, 2019. Sharla spent her early life in both Texas and Louisiana. She graduated from Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Merchandising and a Minor in Art from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. At TCU she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She earned her Elementary Education Certification and ESL Certification from Texas A&M Commerce in Commerce, Texas.

She also received a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Commerce in Commerce, Texas. Sharla taught elementary school for over twenty years and was an adjunct professor at Richland College. She was a lifelong Methodist and a current member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, bible studies, and volunteering with the youth group her boys attended.

She loved scuba diving, going to the beach, being creative, traveling, being around friends and family, and doing anything her boys were involved in. This included being an active member of the Boy Scout of America. As she progressed her way through scouting as an Adult leader, she played a vital role in both of her sons becoming Eagle Scouts.

She loved talking to Preston about his college experience and his future ambitions in life and she loved listening to Tanner play the piano and going to his golf tournaments. Sharla’s father Charles Burnett Simank of Shreveport Louisiana proceeded her in death. Survivors are her two sons, Preston Reese Sanderson and Tanner Scott Sanderson of Rowlett, Texas; mother Khaki Reese Simank of Shreveport, Louisiana; her sister Kristi Simank Wren and husband William Blake Wren; nephews Joseph Reese Wren and Landes Charles Wren of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Sharla will always be a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a wonderful Christian and was always devoted to her faith. Sharla was not only a warrior herself but a warrior and encourager for others on their fight against cancer.

Sharla was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in June of 2016. She fought two long years and won the battle twice. After the third time cancer was found, it took her body but not her spirit.

In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to the Amy T. Selkirk Breast Cancer research fund at Baylor Hospital Scott and White Dallas Foundation or the charity of your choice.
