John’s Obituary John C. Tilton, 72, a longtime resident of Plaistow, died March 24, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, following a lengthy illness. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late John and Cecile (Mailloux) Tilton, he attended Haverhill High School, and when younger he was a member of the Haverhill Order of Demolay. He later served honorably from 1965 until 1967 in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Tilton had Alzheimer’s disease plus several other serious health problems, and during his three-year battle he kept his courageous fighting spirit, and never complained of his discomfort. The motto of this family was they took it one day at a time, and one problem at a time. When Mr. Tilton could still speak and people asked how he was feeling, he would usually reply, “Great”, he was so brave and such an inspiration.

He spent most of his ill time at home, with his wife and daughter as his dedicated caregivers and advocate, and they were always by his side when he was in the hospitals. Mr. Tilton was a builder and contractor and operated Tiffany Lee Homes Inc., he took pride in constructing quality new homes for forty years in Southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Known to many as a gentleman with a hearty laugh and big smile, Mr. Tilton enjoyed telling jokes and humorous stories, he had a generous good heart, he loved riding his award-winning custom motorcycle, and he was a Patriots fan.

He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-two years, Donna M. (Comeau) Tilton, a daughter Tiffany L. Tilton, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jackie Tilton of NH. He was predeceased by a brother Philip Tilton. At the request of the family, a private prayer service was held with a Chaplain at the hospital, so there will be no further services.

Mr. Tilton will be cremated and then taken back home with his devoted family. Mr. Tilton loved animals, and he called his Siamese cat named Thai, his “Son”. So in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to help animals may be given to the MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844, or at www.
