Obituary for John Calvin Wilson Sr John Calvin Wilson, Sr., age 82, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 6:35 a.m., Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Eugene Wilson and his sister, Eula Mae Mays. John was born to the late General James “Jim” and Estella Wilson March 21, 1936 in Meridian, Mississippi.
He spent his childhood years in York, Alabama. John was a decorated veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Korean conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart.
John worked for the National Fence Company in Henderson, Kentucky and was also an iron worker. He retired after 20 years of janitorial service at Schnucks West Side in Evansville, Indiana. John was active in different religious denominations, but, ultimately, he simply loved Jesus.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife of 40 years, Mrs. Agnes Wilson of Henderson, KY, sons; Richard L. Wilson and his wife Dora of Henderson, KY, John Calvin Wilson, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, and Calvin Eugene Wilson and his wife Margie of Indianapolis, IN, daughters; Eula E. Wilson of Henderson, KY and Jonella Gayle Wilson of Chester, VA, brothers; Ozzie Lee Wilson and his wife Flora of Tampa, FL and Frank Hale, 2 step-daughters, 7 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Rose M. “Small Change” Casterman. Relatives and friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Mary E. Johnson of Oasis Forever Ministries International.
