John David Buzea passed away on Friday June 22, 2018. Most people know him as John, but his family called him David. He was born on August 24, 1952.

John went to Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Hammond Technical Vocational High School. where he excelled in cooking. He was employed as a cook at a diner/restaurant before and after he graduated.

He enlisted in the Air Force in 1971 and was installed at F E Warren air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His primary specialty… Read More » title was that of a cook. John was honorably discharged as a Sargent E-4 in 1975, and was reverted to reserve status until 1977.

John was employed at Pullman Standard until they closed down. He worked several factory and restaurant jobs over the years until he found steady employment as a solo cook at the Pines Tap in Hammond, IN, where he worked for many years and made many friends. Everyone who dined at the establishment loved his cooking as he loved to cook.

John was a very hard worker and dedicated employee, but was forced to resign due to extreme pain in his back and right hip due to osteoarthritis. John suffered from a couple of mini strokes (TIA’s), high blood pressure and COPD. John David was married for a few years, but unfortunately to the wrong person as she betrayed him.

He never remarried nor desired children. John David is preceded in death by his father; John Victor Buzea, mother; Dorothy Hazel Buzea, brother; Jack Young, sister; Barbara Dunkel, and nephew; Jason Eric Young. John David is survived by his brothers; Terry Buzea, Dan Young, sister; Tina Pacific, as well as many nieces and nephews.

John is also survived by long-standing high school friend Ron Glanowski of South Carolina, good friend Neil Edwards of Arizona, and good friend Marlene Johnson of Indiana. John David will be deeply and immensely missed by all those who loved him. He had a heart of gold.
