John P. Kowalczyk officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Hammond. Sue was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Donald E. Gavit High School and Purdue University (BA and MA).

Sue’s lifelong love of literature and reading led her to become a teacher. She began her teaching career at George Rogers Clark High School, then Scott Middle School where she taught language arts and coached volleyball and basketball. She then taught at Kahler Middle School and finally Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Calumet City.

She was a member of the Lake County Retired Teachers Association. Sue was instrumental in establishing the Reading Recovery program at her last school and was fiercely committed to the students she taught throughout her teaching career. After retiring from teaching, Sue enjoyed traveling, riding her horses at her cousin Allison’s farm, playing her ukulele, and spending time with her friends and family.

Despite her many health problems, Sue never lost her desire to live life to the fullest. She dearly loved her parents, her partner Diane, her brother and sisters and their families, her Aunt Mary, her cousins and friends; and she was profoundly grateful for their love and support. Sue was known for her great sense of humor, but most of all for her loving heart.

She was always more concerned about others than she was about herself. We will miss her terribly knowing that there will never be another Sue. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Michael the Archangel Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
